| Description | The group discussions took place over two sessions on 22 and 23 September 2005. DEFSA Convenor : Amanda Breytenbach Report compiled by : Nico Botes At the 2004 DEFSA conference, the interior design discussion group nominated Amanda Breytenbach and Nico Botes to investigate the possibilities for professional recognition for the discipline and to enquire about how, through the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), a Standards Generating Body (SGB) for the discipline could be established. At the 2005 discussion group, feedback was provided by the nominees. During the foregoing year, discussion and consultation was initiated and conducted with various bodies - including Design South Africa (DSA), the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP), the Council for the Built Environment (CBE), the South African Guild of Interior Designers (SAGID), SAQA and representatives from various tertiary institutions offering interior and architectural studies. |
