Cape Student wins international PIEA award

dela_harpe.JPGSecond year photography student of 2009 Moolman De La Harpe has won an award in the 2010 PIEA International Photo Contest. The top 100-120 photographs will be exhibited at the PMA Imaging 2010 Convention in Anaheim, CA USA in 2010.

Two 2010 PIEA International Traveling Photo Exhibitions will tour major conventions, schools, colleges and museums for three years in the USA, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa (at the Academy!) and Canada.

Mlu Zondi Wins Spier 2010 Award

02_zondi.jpgDUT graduate Mlu Zondi, has won the Spier Contemporary 2010 Award at the Spier Contemporary Exhibition in Cape Town. The work of 101 artists selected from over 2 700 submissions are being showcased. The exhibition will run until 14 May at Cape Town’s City Hall and later travel to exhibition sites in Johannesburg and Durban.

As part of Zondi’s prize, he will attend the prestigious 18th Street Art Centre in California, USA, as an artist in residency for eight weeks, from December 2010.

Stellenbosch Academy Students win Sony Award

camera.jpgLindsay Nel and Robyn Thompson of 3rd year photography have won the Africa/Asia leg of the Sony World Student Photography Awards! Students we asked to submit images that captured the Student Focus Theme 2010 'War and Peace' as reflected by their own country. This is the biggest photographic student award on a global level.
