Conference
2004
Design, Research and Development
Hosted by The Design Institute of South Africa,
a division of the SABS
The 6th National Design
Education Forum of Southern Africa (DEFSA) 2004 conference was hosted
by the Design Institute of South Africa, a division of the SABS.
The 2004 conference was held in Pretoria on 17 and 18 June.
The 2004 DEFSA Conference broke away from the traditional approach
of design educators talking to one another. The focus was on strategic
stakeholders talking to educators about their requirements and views
on design leadership and clients of design.
Design Educators and design professionals throughout South Africa
were invited to attend this multi-faceted design event. It was an
inspiring and enjoyable experience with ample time for interaction
with colleagues from a wide range of institutions.
The programme spanned two days. The first day was devoted to invited
papers by well known personalities on topical design related issues.
The second day focused on design educators' discussions. It was
an opportunity for DEFSA members to consolidate and plan strategically
for the future, in view of all the changes and mergers that have
taken place. |
