Annual General Meeting 2006
The 2006 DEFSA AGM was held on Thursday, 21 September 2006 at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth.

Proposed constitutional changes
The proposed amendment to the constitution is to make provision for a President Elect position which along with the President will be elected bi-annually. The President's term of office would be limited to two years unless otherwise decided under extraordinary circumstances. After much discussion and deliberation the proposal was tabled for further discussion whereupon the following comments were made:
- This proposal was presented & discussed in 2002
- It was suggested that the election of the office bearers could have been finalised if it was done prior to the lodging of the proposal. This proposal could affect the outcome of the office bearers.
- It was stated that the president could only stand for a second term under extra-ordinary circumstances.
- A comment was made "doesn't the fact that changes are happening at this meeting mean that it is extra-ordinary circumstances?"
- If the amendment is approved at the AGM it means that it will come into effect immediately
- The resolution is still to be rewritten to show exactly what the intensions are.
The proposal was accepted with the rider that it did not prejudice Colin Daniels with a two-thirds majority vote of 34. The resolution as it stands was adopted with immediate effect.
